“I’m SO calling you Pookie!” One of the first things I ever said to Katie, after she informed me her family and friends affectionately know her as Pookie, and her husband (husband-to-be at the time of this conversation) as Woody.

Her wedding day began at Habersham Baptist Church. I immediately connected with their ceremony location because it reminded me so much of my childhood church - the stained glass windows, red carpet, and old wooden (though surprisingly comfortable) pews. She spent her morning with her bridesmaids getting primped and ready, while the boys were tucked away in a room on the other side of the church.

Their ceremony was like many I had seen before, with one exception - they “tied the knot.” Picture a two-by-one board with three ropes hanging from the top (pictured below). At the end of the ceremony, they came together to braid the knot, thus tying their love. This was the first time I’ve witnessed this ceremony and I was in LOVE with it!

The reception was held at Cornelia Community House - a beautiful cabin-meets-reception hall. The table toppers were made by Katie and her mother and are pictured below.
